The Tooth Worm as Hell’s Demon

The picture  to the right is of an 18th Century ivory carving fromWorms - Toothworm Southern France titled “The Tooth Worm as Hell’s Demon.” The artist created two (10.5 cm height) molar teeth out of ivory showing the infernal torments of a toothache as a battle with the “tooth worm”.

What many people do not understand today, is that before the advent of the current medical establishment, many ancient cultures had believed that worms were the cause of various illnesses and diseases such as tooth decay known as cavities today.

For example, the Chinese believed there were worms in the teeth that caused tooth decay and pain. They had several remedies that they employed successfully to kill these worms.

The ancient Babylonians had also believed that worms in the form of demons had caused diseases in people. They would actually distinguish one demon from another just as the modern medical establishment distinguishes one disease from another. Ashakku was the demon of a wasting disease, and Akhkhazu, the ‘seizer,’ was the demon of liver troubles who brings fever and plagues and is a member of a trio of female demons.

It is well know today that many animals such as sheep, cattle and horses suffer from various types of worms that infest the liver known as liver flukes. It only makes perfect sense that we humans can suffer from the same type of worm infestations.

The legend of the tooth worm is said to have come out of Mesopotamia around 1800 B.C. Here is an actual ancient Babylonian text dated to approximately this period that relates a demon with a toothache being caused by a worm;

‘After Anu had created the heavens
The heavens created the earth.
The earth created the rivers.
The rivers created the canals,
The canals created the marsh,
The marsh created the worm.
Then came the worm weeping before the smash;
Before Ea came her tears:
“What wilt thou give me for my food?
What wilt thou give me as mine to destroy?”
“I will give thee the ripe figs and soft pomegranates.”
“Me! What are these ripe figs to me And soft pomegranates?
lift me up. between the teeth and the Jaw-bone set me,
That I may destroy the blood of the teeth,
And ruin their strength,
Grasp the prong and seize the roof’

In order to expel these demon worms, the Babylonians had a cure that involved the words below in this incantation text;

Out! Out I Far away! Far away
Shame! Shame 1 Perish! Perish!
Turn thy body! Out! Far away
From my body go out!
From my body far away!
From my body, for shame
From my body perish
From my body turn
From ray body thy body!
Into my body do not return
To my body do not approach
In my body do not dwell!
On my body do not press!
By Shamash, the mighty, be exorcised I
By Ea, lord of all, be exorcised!
By Marduk, chief exerciser of the gods, be exorcised!
By the Are-god, who burns you, be exorcised!
From my body be ye separated!’

Worms - ApocalypseAnother interesting note is the biblical connections to Babylon, demons and worms in the Apocalypse. A place of hell, fire and gnashing teeth. The bible coincides with the ancient text above perfectly, and we must ask ourselves today, “Is there any truth in The Tooth Worm as Hell’s Demon?”

Below are the biblical texts of the Apocalypse in relation to Babylon, hell, demons and worms.

Babylon is become a habitation of demons. They cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning. Her smoke goeth up unto the ages of the ages (Apoc. xviii. 2, 18; xix. 3).

He opened the pit of the abyss, and there went up a smoke out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun was darkened, and the air, by the smoke of the pit (Apoc. ix. 2).

Out of the mouth of the horses went forth fire and smoke and brimstone ; by these was the third part of men killed, by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone (Apoc. ix. 17, 18).

If any one adores the beast he shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God mixed with unmixed wine in the cup of His anger, and shall be tormented with fire and brimstone (Apoc. xvi. 9, 10).

The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given unto it to scorch men with fire; therefore men were scorched with great heat (Apoc. xvi. 8, 9).

They were cast into a lake burning with fire and brimstone (Apoc. xix. 20; xx. 14, 15; xxi. 8).

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit shall be hewn down and cast into the fire (Matt. iii. 10; Luke iii. 9).

The Son of man shall send His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that cause stumbling and them that do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire (Matt. xiii. 41, 42, 50).

The King shall say to them that are on the left hand, Depart from Me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (Matt. xxv. 41).

They shall be sent into everlasting fire, into the hell of fire, where their worm shall not die, and the fire shall not be quenched (Matt, xviii. 8, 9; Mark ix. 43-49).

Are people with big heads smarter than people with small heads?

“There exists an indisputable connection between the size of the brain and the mental energy displayed by the individualBrain Image man.” This quote was made by German anatomist and physiologist, Frederick Tiedmann in 1836. In 2007, the world famous Brazilian geneticist Dr. Sergio Pena called Tiedemann an “anti-racist ahead of his time”.

A German neuroanatomist, and physiologist, Franz Gall (1758-1828) was one of the first scientist to study the size of people’s heads in relation to their intelligence. After examining the heads of thousands of people, he developed a method of “reading heads” where he concluded that humans with large heads and high foreheads were smarter than others. He published his detailed research on brain function and localization in a book with a long title called “On the Functions of the Brain and of Each of Its parts: With Observations on the Possibility of Determining the Instincts, Propensities, and Talents, Or the Moral and Intellectual Dispositions of Men and Animals, by the Configuration of the Brain and Head.” (more…)

Celebrating Restoration of the Jesuits

(Source: Jesuit.org) – Yesterday, 7 August, the Society of Jesus throughout the world celebrated the 200th anniversary ofJesuit-Logo its Restoration by Pope Pius VII. Although the English Province had been technically reinstated 11 years previously, the occasion is still a cause of major celebration.

A dozen or so English Jesuits had survived the Suppression of the Society of Jesus by Pope Clement XIV in 1773 and were continuing ministry at their college in Liege (then an independent principality, now modern Belgium) when it was overrun by the French revolutionary army in 1794. One of these Jesuits, Fr Charles Plowden SJ, persuaded Thomas Weld of Lulworth, an old boy, to grant them asylum at Stonyhurst Hall, a rarely visited, derelict mansion in Lancashire. Plowden was described by another former pupil as having “great eloquence, which was alternatively vehement and persuasive”.

The Jesuits duly arrived and re-established their college which survives to this day. The English Jesuits became known as the Gentlemen of Stonyhurst and Pope Pius VI made the college a Pontifical seminary with the right of self-government. (more…)

Killer worm sperm and the sexual arms race

The study of worms is now a favorite pastime of mine. I have found that worms are everywhere. They are in the ground, in the air,Worm fight in our blood, our bones, and on our skin. Some we can see, and some we cannot see. In fact, before we humans develop our arms, legs, eyes and ears in the wombs of our mothers where we begin the transformation into a being or fetus that looks like a modern-day human, we actually look like worms because we descend from sperm, which is in reality a type of worm.

This is why in the bible it is said, And from these worms God made angels. The Lord said of Himself: “I am a worm and not a man” (Ps 21:7)or in the Hebrew Bible: “Man that is a worm (rimmah), and the son of man which is a maggot” (tole’ah).

Let me explain this as simple as possible for those of you worms out there who do not understand what I AM saying.

When a man has impregnated a woman, he releases his sperm into her vaginal canal, to where it then makes the journey through the cervix and to the follopian tubes where the eggs are released. In one single drop of sperm, there are literally hundreds of millions of thin symmetrical shaped worms swimming around as if they have a life of their own. It is these millions of worms who compete with one another to enter into the woman’s egg. A competition of survival of the fittest, where only the toughest and fastest of the worms wins the fight to earn the right to become a human.

This fight of the survival of the fittest worm sperm is now being documented by scientists. This is called sperm competition where these worms are known as “kamikaze sperm” or “killer sperm.” These terms are used to refer to the competitive process between spermatozoa of two or more different males to fertilize an egg of a lone female. This is often compared to having tickets in a raffle; a male has a better chance of winning (i.e. fathering offspring) the more tickets he has (i.e. the more sperm he inseminates a female with).(Wikipedia) (more…)

The poison-spitting, and man-destroying powers of the Goddess

(Evolution of the Dragon by G. Elliot Smith -“THE SERPENT AND THE LIONESS”) – When the development of the story of the Destruction of Mankind necessitated the Isis lionfinding of a human sacrifice and drove the Great Mother to homicide, this side of her character was symbolized by identifying her with a man-slaying lion and the venomous uræus-serpent.

She had previously been represented by such beneficent food-providing and life-sustaining creatures as the cow, the sow, and the gazelle (antelope or deer): but when she developed into a malevolent creature and became the destroyer of mankind it was appropriate that she should assume the form of such man-destroyers as the lion and the cobra.

Once the reason for such identifications grew dim, the uræus-form of the Great Mother became her symbol in either of her aspects, good or bad, although the legend of her poison-spitting, man-destroying powers persisted. 1 The identification of the destroying-goddess with the moon, “the Eye of the Sun-god,” prepared the way for the rationalization of her character as a uræus-serpent spitting venom and the sun’s Eye spitting fire at the Sun-god’s enemies. Such was the goddess of Buto in Lower Egypt, whose uræus-symbol was worn on the king’s forehead, and was misinterpreted by the Greeks as not merely a symbolic “eye,” but an actual median eye upon the king’s or the god’s forehead.
