The Helm of Awe (Old Norse Ægishjálmr, pronounced “EYE-gis-hiowlm-er”) is a powerful protective symbol used by the
Vikings (Northmen, Norse or Normans) for the purpose of protection from illness, and disease. In Norse mythology it is said that it is a symbol that was worn between the eyes that induces fear in your enemies, and to protect against the abuse of power.
The Norse word Ægishjálmr, is translated in English “helm of awe” or “helm of terror.” The meaning of the name awe is to strike with fear and reverence; to influence by fear, terror or respect; as, his majesty awed them into silence.
These enemies of the people, and this abuse of power I will attempt to prove are actually found in the worms that humans are born with, and die with. They are both the creator, and destroyer of man. In order for the Norse to maintain their health in such brutal dark and cold environments, they developed various health methods with charms, plants and medical regimes to strike awe and terror in these worms. In a sense, to protect them against the abuse of power of these same said worms with the help of charms such as the “helm of awe.” (more…)

A spade (spadille), or what is often called the ace of spades, is normally the highest card in the deck of playing cards. For
centuries in popular legends, it is also known as the death card, the spade of the grave-digger, and the symbol of death. In Freemasonry, the Symbol of Mortality is represented with a spade, a coffin, and an open grave.
If we explore the etymology of the word spade, we will find it is composed of the words “spa and de.” The meaning of the root word spa is “to draw”; from the Greek orcaw, “to draw, or draw out.” The meaning of de is down, down from, and off. Therefor the meaning I have come to, is that the word spade means to draw down or draw out and down, or draw from the down.
Now that we know the etymology of the word spade, we can search the hidden meaning of the symbol, which the great Manly P. Hall had said the spade is actually related to our own anatomy being that of our spinal column, and the sacrum bone. This will all start to make sense to you once you realize that the highest degree in Freemasonry is the 33rd, there are 33 turns in a complete sequence of human DNA, and the human vertebral column usually consists of 33 vertebrae. The sword is a symbol of war, destruction, power, authority, and divine judgements. In occult philosophy, the sword is also
related to wisdom and reason by the issuance of your words with the tongue of your mouth. Quite simply, the sword is used for cutting at a foe. Just like a physical sword can kill or maim your opponents, your mouth can issue sharp words that act like a sword to slay ignorance, lies and darkness in the world in order to bring light. (more…)

The phoenix is the most celebrated of all the symbolic creatures fabricated by the ancient Mysteries for the purpose of
concealing the great truths of esoteric philosophy. Mediæval Hermetists regarded the phoenix as a symbol of the accomplishment of alchemical transmutation, a process equivalent to human regeneration. The name phoenix was also given to one of the secret alchemical formula.
In the Mysteries it was customary to refer to initiates as phoenixes or men who had been born again, for just as physical birth gives man consciousness in the physical world, so the neophyte, after nine degrees in the womb of the Mysteries, was born into a consciousness of the Spiritual world.
This is the mystery of initiation to which Christ referred when he said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John iii. 3). The phoenix is a fitting symbol of this spiritual truth.”

Ancient Celtic Crosses can be found in many parts of the world. But nowhere can you find them like you can in the countries of Ireland,
and Scotland.
These symbols are a combination of a cross with a ring surrounding the intersection. One of the world’s foremost experts on the Celtic Crosses, Crichton E.M. Miller says they were used to tell time with the heavenly stars above, and also measurement.
Essentially, they were ancient mathematical timepieces and scientific instruments.
Below are some awesome images of these incredible crosses. (more…)
