One of the most powerful but mysterious Angels in the Abrahamic pantheon is known as Azazel (Azael or Azar). In the Book of Enoch, he is one of the chiefs of the 200 fallen angels who instructed the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men teaching them the magical arts.

The fallen angels were regarded as the founding authors (geni/jinn/demons) of sin in the world through various forms of transgression and corruption in which they were bound and tormented by a great fire (Eth. En. 21 s-io 54 1-6) for their worldly ways.

From the Gnostics, Jews, Christians to the apocryphal Book of Enoch and later passed over to the Arabians, Azazel is assigned as chief of the wind or air spirits by whom the earth was corrupted. Our oldest sources come from both ancient Jewish and Slavic legends which confirm that he is an evil spirit and one of two scapegoats bearing the sins of their people depicted in the ancient rite of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) in which one goat was designated by “lots for the Lord,” the “other for Azazel” (Leviticus 16:8).

The Talmud tells of angels of wind and of fire and in Psalm, we find that that the “winds are Yahweh’s messengers and his ministers are flames.” The winds and air appear to act as a form of travel and communication for the messengers and the receivers of these communications which today could be compared to how radio, satellite, internet, and cell phone technology transfer information or power through the air between two or more points just I, you, and billions of people are doing right now.

With that said, I wanted to bring your attention to The Apocalypse of Abraham, beautifully preserved for us in old Slavonic literature, which says that Azazel’s great sin was in “scattering the secrets of heaven upon earth” and in devising rebellion against the Mighty One.

Prophetically, we could compare Azazel’s great sin with the advent of the internet and cell phone technology that puts knowledge, information, and sin at everyone’s fingertips who now have access to both the Gnostic secrets of heaven and hell upon earth. Unfortunately, in this day and Age, we all know too well that the seeds of Azazael often choose evil rather than divine when searching online for their soul.

In the Scripture, Azazel is the wilderness demon who taught mankind metal work (8 1. 2) and wickedness (9 e 10 s). He is told by Enoch that he should have no peace (13 1); chains are prepared for him and his hosts, that they may be bound and cast into the abyss (54 1) and to be judged by the Messiah (55 4).

The Revelation of St. John talks of angels “holding the four winds of the earth” (Rev. vii. 1),” of “the angels of the waters” (Rev. xvi. 5; cf. John v. 4), and of “another angel that hath power over fire” (Rev. xiv. 18). In later magical treatises, Azazel and Azael are “reckoned among the genii that preside over the elements” (Bib. Encyc. of McC. and S., art. Azazel).

The Book of Jubilees, ii. 2, reads:

“The angels of the face and of glorification, the angels of the elements of fire, wind, and darkness, of hail Creation and hoar frost, thunder, and lightning, of cold of Angels. and heat, of winter and spring, summer and fall, of the abyss and night, of light and morning, were created on the first day.”

The Zohar credits Zazel–Azazel as one of the angels cast down from heaven who sin with the daughters of men and who teach men sorceries cast down the celestial light which used to sustain them and were changed to another grade through the influence the air of this world.

“. . . after God cast Uzza and Azael down from their holy place, they went astray after the womenfolk and seduced the world also. It may seem strange that being angels they were able to abide upon the earth. The truth is, however, that when they were cast down the celestial light which used to sustain them and they were changed to another grade through the influence of the air of this world.

Similarly, the manna which came down or the Israelites in the wilderness originated in the celestial dew from the most recondite spot, and at first its light would radiate to all worlds and the “field of apples,” and the heavenly angels drew sustenance from it, but when it approached the earth it became materialized through the influence of the air of this world and lost its brightness, becoming only like “coriander seed.” (Zohar III.208)

We also find in the Zohar that the whole world is divided between “right” and “left.” Both pure and impure powers working in tandem of the right side with the Holy One and His powers and on the left we find the serpent Sammael and his powers (cf. Zohar, Bereshith, 47b, 53f, 169b and following, 174b).

“Now observe a deep and holy mystery of faith, the symbolism of the male principle and the female principle of the universe…there is the line where the male and female principles join, forming together the rider on the serpent, and symbolized by Azazel.”(Zohar I.152b-153a)

These ancient teachings led to many Jewish Rabbis identifying Azazel with Sammael, the angel of death, the chief of the devils, the fallen archangel and the seducer of mankind. Father of the Church, St. Basil had said that the angels are “an airy wind, an immaterial fire” who are order of intelligent creatures which is their elementary constitution according to another high author and the Christian Theologian Origen claimed that Azazel was the devil (‘Cont Cels.’ lib. V1. p. 305).

One of the world’s foremost experts on the Origins of Early Jewish Mysticism and The Apocalypse of Abraham, author Andrei Orlov explains in his book “The Likeness of Heaven” that Azazel’s “corrupted domain” is described as a “likeness or resemblance of heaven” and is located beneath Abraham’s feet which happens to also be the Lair of Leviathon.

In my opinion, these descriptions give us an important clue as to who or what Azazel represents and also his role since ancient times.

Orlov had written in With Letters of Light: Studies in the Dead Sea Scrolls, Early Jewish Apocalypticism, Magic, and Mysticism;

“The apocalypse then portrays Abraham looking beneath the expanse at his feet and beholding what the text calls the “likeness of heaven.” This reference to the “likeness of heaven” (Slav. подобие неба) has baffled the imagination of many scholars because of the text authors’ decision to situate under the category of the “resemblance of heaven” the vision of the corrupted domain belonging to Azazel:

And I looked beneath the expanse at my feet and I saw the likeness of heaven (подобие неба) and what was therein. And [I saw] there the earth and its fruits, and its moving ones, and its spiritual ones, and its host of men and their spiritual impieties, and their justifications, and the pursuits of their works, and the abyss and its torment, and its lower depths, and the perdition which is in it.

And I saw there the sea and its island, and its animals and its fishes, and Leviathan and his domain, and his lair, and his dens, and the world which lies upon him, and his motions and the destruction of the world because of him. (Apoc. Ab. 21:2-4).

The clue(s) I speak of is given this description in The Apocalypse of Abraham along with the early Judaic and Christian representing him as a fallen angel, the angel of death and made of an airy wind appears to be aligned with my modern body of work on “demonic fungi/molds” in which I use modern science in an attempt to make scientific sense of these ancient stories.

This modern science has already proved that fungi/molds form massive underground mycelium networks underneath our feet like the protoplasts under Abraham’s feet and under the Tree of Knowledge that expand for sometimes hundreds of miles. I contend that we will later find that these networks actually expand the entire globe penetrating to its core, within volcanoes, caves, and upwards possibly To the Stars where scientists are now finding these fungi as high as 33,000 feet in the air where not surpiingly, they contend the fungi may also be transmitting diseases from one side of the globe to the other.

These same fungi found on earth have been discovered growing within NASA and Russian space shuttles feeding upon the ships and astronauts as if they are Food for the Moon.

As it is said in The Second Epistle to Timothy, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the dominations, the powers, the lords of darkness, the mischievousness of spirits in the upper regions.”

In our modern era, fungi/molds have been of great interest to science because of their excellent and almost GodLike ability to manufacture useful products for human beings. Products such as drugs, antibiotics, soda, beer and a plethora of dark arts can be found in modern Pharmakia, a Greek word that interestingly means sorcerer and where we get the English word Pharmacy.

It as if these are the angels and evil demons the Holy Fathers spoke of that are who I call the “demonic fungi/molds” of airy wind, an immaterial fire” who are an order of intelligent creatures instructing the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men teaching them the magical arts.

I believe if Slavonic Scholars were to look at my extensive research on “demonic fungi/molds” in relation to ancient demon lore and the airy spirits of Scripture, they may find the modern answers to these ancient questions they have been looking for. Even though I’m an American of Phoenician descent who grew up a Roman Catholic and a Gnostic, I resonate deeply with what I have read thus far of the Apocalypse of Abraham.

Meaning this ancient Slavonic Gnosis appears to be part of my religious DNA for as Plato once said, “All Learning is Remembering.”

For example, Andrei Orlov says that that “the most puzzling disclosure in the cluster of these mysterious expositions about the “likeness of heaven” follows further along in chapter 23, where the visionary beholds Azazel’s appearance in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve who are entwined with each other with also a great man of serpent form by the paradisal Tree of Knowledge (Gnosis) of Good and Evil where Azazel is said to be intertwined between protoplasts under the Tree.

Again, we are given clues by Biblical writers where to possibly look in modern science such as “Adam and Eve entwined with each other” with Azazel who is said to be “intertwined between protoplasts under the Tree.”

Scientists are even finding out that these same fungi/molds can transfer genes horizontally which I contend throws the Azazael Protoplast intertwined in our DNA under Darwin’s so-called’ Tree if Evolution.

The meaning of intertwining is “To unite by twisting one in another.”

And what do you know

The definition of protoplasts, from the ancient Greek πρωτόπλαστος (prōtóplastos, “first-formed”), is a biological term referring to the entire cell, excluding the cell wall. Protoplasts are altered forms of bacteria or molds/fungi/yeast in a spherical shape that are bounded by a single membrane and spheroplast refers to a sphere that is bounded by two membranes as we find in Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria.

This explanation could possibly be applied to what is known in Judaism and the Kaballah (Qabalah) as the unholy “Qliphoth.” The meaning of Qlippah is “Peels”, “Shells”, “Husks” or the “Unholy Peel.”

We find in the Kabbala Denudata: The Kabbalah Unveiled that the world of shells, OVLM Hqlipvth, Olahm (Ha-Qliphoth) is this world of matter, made up of the grosser elements of the other three. In it is also the abode of the evil spirits which are called “the shells” by the Qabalah, QLIPVTH, Qliphoth, material shells. (see: Kabbala Denudata: The Kabbalah Unveiled)

In the Kabbala Denudata: The Kabbalah Unveiled, the world of matter is polluted by the Demons who are said to be of the grossest and most deficient of all forms with their prince who is named Samael, SMAL, the angel of poison and of death and is considered to be identical with Satan.

Author, Issac Myer had written in Qabbalah: The Philosophical Writings of Solomon Ben Yehudah …

“Thus the first two demoniacal degrees are considered, as only the absence of visible form and organization, which in Genesis is termed; “Tohoo W’bohoo,” which preceded the creation of the order of the Universe. The third degree is looked upon as the abode of darkness, which Genesis says at first covered the face of the earth.

After this come the seven infernal halls (Sevwah Haikhaloth) or hells, (Gai-hinom,) the abode of the demons and their princes. Here are tortured, the existences which were led astray on earth. These seven halls or hells, are divided into numerous compartments, for the different kinds of punishment apportioned for the different species of earthly sin.

The Prince of the whole region is Sama-el, /’. e., the Angel of Venom, Poison, or Death.* He is thought of as the Satan of the Old Testament, who therein plays more the part of deceiver and accuser than that of a punisher.

The Qabbalah, however, considers Sama-el as the Satan who seduced Eve. The Talmud holds to the same view, it says; “The evil spirit Satan and the Angel of Death, are the same.” (Treatise Bavah Bathra, 16a.)”

With that said, let us attempt to make sense of these ancient teachings using modern science which I have found over my decade of research appears to validate this Old Gnosis rather than discount them as myths or Scriptual fantasy by the iGnostic Atheists who know no better.

When analyzing this Judaic exoteric teachings from a modern scientific lens I have found that this Unholy Shell of Husk may be related to the membrane spoken of in the Apocalypse of Abraham which may also be a reference to the human mucous membrane or possibly a more recent discovery called the “Interstitium,” which is been described as “the largest organ we never knew we had.”

An organ that is so minuscule that it has escaped the discovery of the world’s greatest scientists until now.

A 2018 study published in Scientific Reports detailed the research surrounding this new organ called the Interstitium. It was discovered by Dr. Neil D. Theise who at the time was a liver pathologist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital’s Digestive Disease Division and he is now a Professor, Department of Pathology at New York State University.

This new organ is much larger than our skin and covers every square millimeter of your both your bodies internal organs and external openings such as your eyes, inside your nose, vagina, penis, including every muscle, and even the tiniest of veins is surrounded by its connective web. Theis describes this new organ is a thin layer of dense connective tissue throughout the body, sandwiched just under our skin and within the middle layer of every visceral organ.

Interestingly, the main function of the membrane is to stop other organisms such as fungi/molds, parasites, toxins, and dirt from entering the body and to prevent bodily tissues from becoming dehydrated. Scientists are also discovering that it plays a large role in the pathology of human disease.

This research leads me back to the more ancient Judaic concept found in the teachings of the Kabalah of the Qliphoth or world of shells and the abode of the evil spirits who rule over the world of matter with their prince who is named Samael, SMAL, the angel of poison and of death.

Looking to science again, let us quickly examine how one of the most important of these membranes protects our respiratory system which secretes mucus to trap pathogens like bacteria and fungi from entering your body by breathing them in which is the most common mode of infection in humans.

Infections by fungi/molds I find daily in people’s homes that I inspect daily called Aspergillus which releases poisons called mycotoxins and causes a serious infection known as Aspergillosis which can be deadly.

Here is a description of the Pathology of Aspergillosis;

“The pathological changes resulting from an Aspergillus fumigatus infection occur primarily in the respiratory system but may involve the joints, eyes, and nearly all of the viscera. The most dramatic changes occur in the respiratory system with the bird’s sinuses, trachea, bronchi, lungs, and air sacs being affected. The internal nares and sinuses may fill with a yellow cheesy nodular mass.

The spores on the walls of the trachea and bronchi undergo development and a branching of mycelia and a yellow-white nodular mass develops in the early stages of the infection. Eventually, the air passages become blocked and the walls of the bronchi and trachea are covered by elevated dirty yellow or green layers.

The lungs may show an acute diffuse pneumonia form, marked congestion of the lungs occurs as well as hepatization of the lung tissue. The acute nodular pulmonary form is characterized by soft, yellow-white caseous necrotic miliary nodules measuring 1-3 mm in diameter, distributed evenly throughout the lung tissue.

The nodule is surrounded by a dark infiltrated zone. Nodular formation is the result of hyphae infiltration into the lung parenchyma causing cellular infiltration and the formation of a wall around the center of the radiating hyphae.

The chronic nodular pulmonary form of the disease is characterized by areas of consolidation and coalescence of several nodules or enlargement of single nodules to form masses of necrotic or granulomatous lesions. Calcification of the masses may result from these changes with death being the usual termination of mycotic pneumonia.”

You may ask, what does this all have to do with Azazael? Let me please explain…

In the ancient legend of Azazel, we are told that he is an evil spirit in the form of a fallen angel who is the author of all sin and whose evil influence led to the corruption of Sons of God. All these words used as adjectives I can prove are also used today in the modern scientific sense to describes what specific types of molds/fungi Geni have the ability to commandeer the human mucous membrane and highjack the human nervous system to create a type of human hybrid that could be called in the ancient sense a descendant of Azazel.

Please keep in mind that the origins of the word spirit is from the Latin spiritus “breath, spirit,” from spirae “breathe” which is derived originally from the Greek word for Spirit is pneuma (Strongs 4151) meaning to breathe, blow, primarily denotes the wind.

As I have written many times, It was an ancient belief for thousands of years that supernatural beings or things fly and float in the air and they could enter a person’s body simply by breathing in these beings, spirits, demons and or things. One of the most ancient theories comes down to us from the Pythagoreans who claimed that Pythagoras had stated that “The whole air is full of souls which are called genii or heroes,” which he also believed that these souls in the air affected our thoughts, dreams and sent omens of health, sickness, and disease.

These teachings later developed to become known as “The Doctrine of the Transmigration of Souls or Doctrine of Disembodied Spirit” later became part of the mythical teachings of Gnosticism as the “counterfeit spirit or counterfeit daemon,” which we find in the Christian Scripture when Saint Paul refers to them as wicked spirits of the air in high places in Ephesians 6:11-13.

The Gnostic version is described in the Pistis Sophia (ie: Faith Wisdom) as a small power and soul which has power over our flesh and gains power by the sins and evil we commit. It gathers itself out of the portion of evil (ie: sins/lusts/passions) that resideth in the body.

These flying spirits in the air have been known over the last few thousand years by various names such as “elementals, demons, devils, succubi, incubi, ghosts, specters, phantoms, unclean and impure spirits” to name a few.

These impure and unclean spirits that fly and float in the air I know to be what I call today, “parasitic fungi/molds,” and demonic elemental parasitic fungi/molds.”

Microscopic organisms that are intelligent and that we cannot see with our own eyes. Organisms that emit tiny spores and poisons in the form of mycotoxins that fly and float in the air and enter our bodies causing illness, mental disorders, disease, and even death.

The sphere (mucous membrane) allows the Protoplasts (ie: Azazel?) to withstand the rigors, particularly osmotic, of the fluid (blood) in which it resides.

In my opinion, this modern scientific description seems to align with the Scriptual Tradition of Adam and Eve being entwined with each other and Azazel intertwined between protoplasts is protected by this membrane under the Tree (under and or under our persons) like Abraham who was instructed to look under his feet.

I have found in the writings of Andrei Orlov that he points out how Abraham beholds Azazel’s protological manifestation in the lower realm where the demon’s presence is placed in the midst of the protoplasts which is interesting given the fact that the abode of Azazel through the primordial imagery is under the infamous Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

He also says that some scholars have noted an erotic dimension to this story “suggesting that the demon and the intertwined protoplasts form here some sort of a ménage à trois.” Orlov adds, “What might be the theological significance of this ominous intercourse involving the demonic spirit and the human couple?”

This ménage à trois and what Orlov calls ominous intercourse involving the demonic spirit and the human couple I have theorized in the past deals with what I call The Science of Virgin Births or what is known as parthenogenesis. I had written about a long-term study of reproductive health and published in the British Medical Journal that revealed one in two hundred U.S. women said they have given birth without ever having had sexual intercourse.

In another article, The Many Virgin Born Gods, I had explained that infamous people were said to be virgin-born such as Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Horus, John the Baptist, the Druid God Hu, the Suffi Huwa, Quetzalcoatl, Zoroaster, Buddha, Merlin, Alexander the Great, the Ptolemies, and Julius and Augustus Caesar.

I have also put forth research showing that scientists are finding these molds/fungi eat dead matter AKA carcasses and they absolutely love human skin plus just like airy spirits that were sometimes allegorically called “unclean birds.” Like in The Apocalypse of Abraham, Azazel is depicted as an unclean bird coming down upon the sacrifice of Abraham he swoops down “upon the carcasses” (Gen. xv. 11), and speaking in a human voice, attempts to convince Abraham to leave the holy place.

It reads;

“And the unclean bird spoke to me and said, “What are you doing, Abraham, on the holy heights, where no one eats or drinks, nor is there upon them food for men. But these all will be consumed by fire and ascend to the height, they will destroy you.”

And it came to pass when I saw the bird speaking I said this to the angel: “What is this, my lord?” And he said, “This is a disgrace, this is Azazel!” And he said to him, “Shame on you Azazel! For Abraham’s portion is in heaven, and yours is on earth, for you have selected here, (and) become enamored of the dwelling place of your blemish.

Therefore the Eternal Ruler, the Mighty One, has given you a dwelling on earth. Through you the all-evil spirit [is] a liar, and through you (are) wrath and trials on the generations of men who live impiously.” (Apocalypse of Abraham 13:4–9)”

But Abraham had a special advisor or interventionist present preventing him from performing the sacrifice described as “the voice of the Mighty One coming down from the heavens in a stream of fire,” who is called the angel Yahoel (Jahoel) who is considered as the personification of the divine name.

In Andrei Orlov’s 2017 book, Yahoel and Metatron: Aural Apocalypticism and the Origins of Early Jewish Mysticism, Orlov explains the comprehensive roles and titles of the angel Yahoel. He writes;

“Mediator of the name, embodiment of the deity, choirmaster, revealer of secrets, Sar Torah, heavenly high priest, sustainer of creation, guide and guardian of the visionary, liminal figure, remover of human sins, and second power in heaven.”

He is defined in The Apocalypse of Abraham as the mediation of “my [God] ineffable name (неизрекомаго имени моего).”

Yahoel is the Singer of the Eternal One (Apoc. Ab. 12:4) and is both as a practitioner and as an instructor of this “aural mysticism,” conveying the teachings of the praxis to various types of God’s creatures, earthly as well as celestial. He is described as the celestial choirmaster of the Hayyot In Apoc. Ab. 10:8-9.

Yahoel claims the celestial garments which Satan had worn now belong to Abraham; and in Targum Yer. Gen. iii. 21, where it is said that the garments of light ( for , Gen. R. xx. 29) of the first two human beings were made out of the skin of the primeval serpent.(Orlov)


In my opinion, The Apocalypse of Abraham is very Gnostic to its core showing the ancient teachings showing Azazel is called the Eternal Ruler, the Mighty One ie: Devil, who has been given the dwelling on earth. It also shows us how humanity was divided and governed human duality which focused on the dual aspects of our persona and ego.

For example, the Gnostic teachings pointed out by Andrei Orlov in The Apocalypse of Abraham shows a strong emphasis by the author placed upon the “right” and “left” side of our persons (cf. xxii. (end), xxiii. The “right” side being the source of purity and light, the “left” that of impurity and darkness which was part of the doctrine of some Gnostic traditions which claimed the Devil was separate from God as an independent deity and we find these same features in the tradition of Christian dualism.

Orlov says this same concept was found in some Gnostic traditions which posited that the Devil was separated from God as an independent deity (see Irenæus, adv. Hær. I., xi. 2: II. xxiv. 6), and is also found in the Jewish Kabbalah, where the “right side” and “left side” (sitr~ yêmîn~ w-sitr~ ’ah~r~) become what we can call allegorical “scientific terms.”

In The Apocalypse of Abraham, we find the Demon Azazel’s heritage from being “born with the stars and clouds” and shows an image of people on the right as set apart and the “peoples with Azazel.”

“For thy heritage is (to be) over those existing with thee being born with the stars and clouds, with the men whose portion thou art, and (who) through thy being exist; and thine enmity is justification.”

God, addressing Abraham, says: “As the number of the stars and their power, (so will) I make thy seed a nation, and a people set apart for me in my heritage with Azazel.”

“But those which are on the right side of the picture—they are the people set apart for me of the peoples with Azazel.”

The emphasis here is on the power, authority, and seed (sperm) that creates the peoples with Azazel who God identifies not only as of the progeny of this demon but also make thy seed of Azazel a nation. Meaning, possibly that today there maybe millions, if not billions of humans who are the peoples with Azazel and they would constitute a nation and or nation-states which they control.

Perhaps these people would be identified with Biblical Canaanites and their Outlaw Cain, “who acted lawlessly through the Adversary,” and after murdering his brother Abel would create a division of mankind and nation into “right” and “left.”

The Canaanites have always been associated with the ancient Phoenicians who are well known throughout history as sorcerers, merchants, pirates, religionists, and a peoples who have seeded just about every nation on the globe through their thousands of years of ruling the waterways of the world. I contend that the descendants of these people no matter the nation and or religion continue in their Gnostic habits and freewill Gnosis for “You Will Know Them by Their Fruits.”

In my article, Cain was Father of the Phoenicians, I explain the history and these connections starting with the oldest Phoenician historians and a priest of Byblos, Sanchuniathon who had traced the ancestry of his people, the Phoenicians to Cain who was the eldest son of Adam. I explained that the early Church Fathers identified Canaan with Phoenicia and Canaan which for many centuries, considered as names of the same country.

This history is also found in the Bible in passages such as Exodus vi. 15. with Gen. xlvi. 10. and Exod. xvi. 33. with Josh. v. 12., in which passages, for the Hebrew words translated Canaanitish and land of Canaan, the Septuagint reads Phoenician and the country of Phoenicia.

As we find in The Apocalypse of Abraham (chap. xxiv.), the dominion of the “lawless Adversary” is assigned to Azazel and the hero to Abraham, who is the progeny of Seth, and from his seed;

the Messiah is born (chap. xxix.).
