Alchemy is the Mystic Chemistry of the Soul

(By Manly P. Hall) – Thoth Hermes Trismegistus, the founder of Egyptian learning, the Wise Man of the ancient world, gave to the priests and Hermes 2philosophers of antiquity the secrets which have been preserved to this day in myth and legend. These allegories and emblematic figures conceal the secret formulæ for spiritual, mental, moral, and physical regeneration commonly known as the Mystic Chemistry of the Soul (alchemy). These sublime truths were communicated to the initiates of the Mystery Schools, but were concealed from the profane.

The latter, unable to understand the abstract philosophical tenets, worshiped the concrete sculptured idols which were emblematic of these secret truths. The wisdom and secrecy of Egypt are epitomized in the Sphinx, which has preserved its secret from the seekers of a hundred generations. The mysteries of Hermeticism, the great spiritual truths hidden from the world by the ignorance of the world, and the keys of the secret doctrines of the ancient philosophers, are all symbolized by the Virgin Isis.

Veiled from head to foot, she reveals her wisdom only to the tried and initiated few who have earned the right to enter her sacred presence, tear from the veiled figure of Nature its shroud of obscurity, and stand face to face with the Divine Reality.

The alchemical formula exists only within the nature of man himself

(By Manly P. Hall) – As one of the great alchemists fittingly observed, man’s quest for gold is often his undoing, for he As above so below as withinmistakes the alchemical processes, believing them to be purely material. He does not realize that the Philosopher’s Gold, the Philosopher’s Stone, and the Philosopher’s Medicine exist in each of the four worlds and that the consummation of the experiment cannot be realized until it is successfully carried on in four worlds simultaneously according to one formula.

Furthermore, one of the constituents of the alchemical formula exists only within the nature of man himself, without which his chemicals will not combine, and though he spend his life and fortune in chemical experimentation, he will not produce the desired end. (more…)

Images of Alchemy

Many ancient alchemists had lived at a time when it was forbidden by law to practice alchemy. A law that was punishable by excommunication, torture, and/or death. Since it was so dangerous to think, live and practice this ancient science, many alchemists encoded their teachings into words, symbols and images that were meant to show the hidden mysteries of their art to initiates. Other alchemists were members of various secret societies controlled by the church and kings, where they had agreed under oath to not reveal these mysteries. An oath that was also often punishable by death.

The pictures below represent some of these famous alchemists and their secret art that speaks to us today without any words. See if you can decode them, and make sense of what they were trying to convey in these complex images that are silent, but say so much. Hence, a picture is worth a thousand words…

The Hidden Secrets of Real Alchemy with Robert Bartlett On GW Radio

“Take it not amiss, that the alchemy I teach yields neither gold nor silver; but look upon it as the key which opens the arcana of medicine to you.” – Paracelsus ROBERT-BARTLETT-SLIDE-2

In this episode of the Gnostic Warrior, I interview author and modern master alchemist, Robert Allen Bartlett. Robert is the author of “The Way of the Crucible”, and “Real Alchemy: A Primer of Practical Alchemy.”

Robert started his alchemical research at age 12. As he grew older, he obtained his B.S. Degree in chemistry and later went to work for the Paralab, a commercial offshoot of Paracelsus College; as the Chief Chemist. Alchemy has been a lifelong passion for Robert as he uses ground-breaking modern scientific technology while staying true to the ancient art. He is dedicated to creating and preserving the superior healing products that are produced by ancient methods. Robert would like to inspire other people around the world to embark on their own alchemical journeys.

This interview was conducted by Moe on September 27, 2014 from San Diego County, California, with Robert in the state of Washington. (more…)

The Infant Hercules Strangles the Serpent (Worm)

In ancient Greek mythology, the warfare between the newly incarnated soul into the flesh was symbolized in the myth of Hercules and serpentthe two giant serpents and Hercules. The story relates that while the half-man and half-god Hercules was an infant in his cradle, the Greek goddess Hera (Roman Juno – protector and special counselor of the state) had sent poisonous serpents to kill the child, but he instead strangled the two great snakes that were seeking to devour him.

Hercules was known as a God of heroes, sports, athletes, health, agriculture, and fertility to name a few. Behind this great immortal story of him as an infant, is one of the secret keys to alchemy and health, in which every man and woman is threatened by the devouring jaws of the serpent at the very movement of their incarnation. It also shows the role in which the state aids the snakes, and how we must be wise as serpents and strong as the God of health, Hercules in order to outsmart and kill these man devouring creatures.

I have written on this subject before, how in ancient mythology the serpent and dragon often symbolized the worms that inhabit all humans on earth. Heroes such as the child Hercules killing the two great serpents were stories of the health of man, conquering the animal flesh and outwitting the state to ensure that the worm does not conquer you to lead to an early death. Man is but a worm

”It may be doubted whether there are many other animals which have played so important a part in the history of the Worms manworld as these lowly organised(sic) creatures.” – Darwin

Charles Darwin had studied worms for almost four decades. He was absolutely fascinated with them and their role in the evolution of man and all life on earth.

Darwin’s research into evolution was published in books such as “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection;” and his worm expose called “Vegetable Mould and Earthworms,” where he describes the activities of earthworms. This is when Darwin had famously said, “I was thus led to conclude that all the vegetable mould over the whole country has passed many times through, and will again pass many times through, the intestinal canal of worms.” He further stated, “The plough is one of the most ancient and valuable of man’s inventions; but long before he existed the land was in fact regularly ploughed, and still continues to be thus ploughed by earthworms. It may be doubted whether there are many other animals which have played so important a part in the history of the world, as have these lowly organized creatures.” (more…)
