The Seven Hermetic Principles

“The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic KeySymbols - Man
before whose touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open.”–The Kybalion.

The number 7 is often called the holy number, lucky number, the prophetic number, or the mystical number. Plato had written in Timseus, that from the number seven was generated the soul of the World, Anima Mundana (Adam Kadmon). To the Greek Mathematician Pythagoras and the Pythagoreans, the number seven is “the essence or first principle of things,” which they applied to the secrets of the universe and creation.  They had called the number seven in Greek ‘heptad, ‘ and thought of it as a religious and perfect number.

In Eastern Philosophy there are the seven heavens of the Mohammedans and Hindoos, with the seven hells. The Christians have the seven virtues and seven deadly sins, or what those in the New Age movement might call our seven light bodies, the seven chakras, or the seven states of being.

The Seven Hermetic Principles, upon which the entire Hermetic Philosophy is based, are as follows: (more…)

Freemasonry is Gnosis

By Eliphas Levi – Freemasonry is gnosis, and the false Gnostics have had the real ones condemned.g FREEMASONRY

Which has forced them to hide themselves, it’s not because of the fear of the light, the light is what they want, what they seek, and what they love.

But they fear profane, the slanderers, the skeptics with their stupid laugh, and then enemies of beliefs and morality.

Moreover, in our present time, there are a great number of men who believe themselves to be Freemasons yet they ignore the meaning of their rites, and have lost the key of the mysteries.

The true student realizes most of all that the taking of degrees does not make a man a Mason

By Manly P. Hall – The true student realizes most of all that the taking of degrees does not make a man a Mason. A Masonry degreesMason is not appointed; he is evolved and he must realize that the position he holds in the exoteric lodge means nothing compared to his position in the spiritual lodge of life. War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness

There is a secret hidden war being waged all across the world at this very moment for your body, Light_vs__Dark_by_Ronron84mind and soul. It is what has been called the eternal battle between light and dark. The war of the Sons of Light, Against the Sons of Darkness.

“And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.” The presence of light makes the day; the absence thereof makes the night. Thus, it is in the history of souls. There are “the sons of light” and “the sons of darkness.”

This is a most marked division of souls by God that created The War of the Sons of Light, Against the Sons of Darkness is also known as “War Rule“, “Rule of War” and the “War Scroll.” It is an ancient Gnostic manual for military organization and strategy that was discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls. This War Scroll was found among the scrolls along the Jordan River in the Qumran Cave first published by Eleazar Sukenik in 1955.

H. P. Blavatsky on the Gnostics

Madame Helena Blavatsky had considered the ancient Gnostics her kindred spirits. She wrote about madame-blavatskythem often in the best of light in her lengthy occult masterpieces. The Gnosis, which H. P. Blavatsky called “an echo of our archaic doctrine” and Pythagoras “the knowledge of things as they are.”

“My doctrine is not mine, but Theirs who sent me,” she said, and every Teacher of Truth has said the same. It is one of the great texts of the Christian religion interpreted in different ages, however, in very different ways. We find one of the Christian Fathers, Clemens Alexandrinus, defining the “Gnostic,” or one who possessed this ancestral Theosophy or Gnosis, as “the enlightened or perfect Christian.”

In the nineteenth century Blavatsky had brought to the world a new form of the ancient religion of the Gnostics in what is called Theosophy. In fact, like me, Blavatsky had claimed that from the once universal religion of Gnosticism, would spring the various religions such as Buddhism, Brahmanism, and early Christianity. (more…)

What is the Meaning of a Gnostic and Gnosis?

Gnosis is the oldest religious experience known to mankind. The original Gnostics were the world’s moe-quotefirst priests, and the practice of Gnosticism is simply the earth’s most ancient religion that precedes all other faiths. Every country and culture had their own secret Gnostic sects and mystery schools, and still do to this very day.

The word Gnosis is a Greek word for knowledge which usually refers to any type of direct communion with the divine. Philo refers to this as secret “knowledge” (gnosis) and “wisdom” (sophia) of God. It is not only knowledge of the divine, but also of thyself, the world, nature and the Great Work (Great Arcanum or magnum opus). The Hebrews describe Gnosis with the Da’at. A Hebrew word for knowledge, that in the Kabbalah describes a mystical state one has as they ascend up the tree of life to then reach the self-giving Divine Light. The ancient Egyptians had described the Gnostic experience in many texts of their proverbs such as; “The body is the house of God,” and “Man, know thyself … and thou shalt know the gods.”

Gnosis comes from within each one of us through the secret knowledge of all things hidden. But this knowledge is not something that you will just find outside of yourself. Gnosis in its purest form is the intuitive spiritual knowledge that comes with knowing thyself and thyspirit. Plato describes this process when he says “all learning is remembering.” He calls this a recollection and restoration of the views a person once had, and original knowledge that was once lost. Today science describes part of this Gnostic experience that Plato had described as intuition.

The Valentinians (Valentinus) taught that gnosis was the privileged Gnosis kardias, “knowledge of the heart” or “insight” about the spiritual nature of the cosmos that brought about salvation to the pneumatics— the name given to those believed to have reached the final goal of sanctity. The Sethians understood themselves to be children of Adam and Eve, through Seth who had walked the Right Hand Path (RHP) which is the path of the heart. The path of water. All desire, learning and the Great Work is done through our hearts, rather than just the mind. (more…)
